Black & White imageUndated View of Abbott's Cafe at no. 4 Austhorpe Road. This was set up by the Messrs M & A Abbott, listed as bakers in the early 1910s who survived for 30 years until the early 1940s. Various goods are displayed in the windows.

Black & White image8th December 1953. Looking north-east across Blackman Lane to the Blenheim Memorial Church on the right. A notice advertises an organ recital. In the gap between the buildings is Carlton Garage, with an Esso petrol pump. On the wall of the next building, a sign for Carlton Lodge Cafe (transport cafe). A gas lamp is next to the cafe sign. This next building is the warehouse for Bray, Geo + Co.Ltd., Lighting engineers. It has distinctive ventilators on the roof. Bray's main factory was just round the corner on Leicester Place. Three of the five cars parked on the street are, from left to right, a Ford Prefect, a Morris Minor, and Ford Popular.
