Black & White image22nd August 1941 ARP and Rescue workers are dealing with an incendiary device. There were various types of incendiary bombs, they were designed to create maximum fire damage. Phosphorous was widely used, it was extinguished by immersion in water, or by exclusion of air, using a wet cloth to cover the incendiary site. Neither method was instant.
