Under phase 1 of the Building Schools For the Future Programme, Allerton Grange will be totally rebuilt, and is expected to be completed by 2009. The swimming pool dates from 1966 when it was opened by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Alderman Joshua S. Walsh on 19th July.

Walsh, on the left, with his wife, the Lady Mayoress, seen by the side of the new swimming pool at Allerton Grange School, during its opening ceremony. The 66 foot long pool, opened by the Lord Mayor, cost £11,000, paid for in part by an £8,000 interest free loan from two parents, along with a £3,000 grant from the council.
