Aireside Retail Park, Truck Lifting Tower (City Centre) (1 comment)
Colour imageUndated. View of the truck lifting tower that formed part of the Central Station railway complex which lay between Wellington Street and Whitehall Road. The Central Station closed in May 1967 and the rest of the buildings and railway lines are now all gone, but this tower, now Grade II listed, remains and has been incorporated into the Aireside Retail Park. The tower was used to lift trucks from the lower level goods station to the high level passenger line above.
