Black & White image3rd September 1930. Coal Road, Seacroft, with Mill Green. In the centre of Mill Green is the Windmill, an ancient mill used for grinding corn. A local story tells of William Chippendale who had moved to the mill from Yeadon. In 1842 he allegedly stood on his head at the top of the mill to demonstrate his good health. It was his eightieth birthday! He died in 1854, his son Isaac started the Scholes brickworks. The mill is now the centre of Stakis Windmill Hotel.
