Fieldhead Carr School was originally a middle school dating from the time that Leeds operated a three-tier system. It was built in 1975 to service the new 1970s housing estate in East Leeds and catered for children aged 9 to 13. When the middle school system was abolished Whinmoor Middle became Fieldhead Carr Primary School in 1992. A nursery was added in 1994 and the school now has 225 places.
