Named after the famous Castleford-born sculptor and former Leeds College of Art student who laid the foundation stone on 10th April 1980, the Gallery was opened in 1982. Despite the work in progress and scaffolding around the building, people are still relaxing on the seats in Victoria Gardens in front. The Municipal Buildings can be seen on the left.
