View of Bolland Street showing back-to-back terraced houses on both sides with washing hung on lines across the Street. This area was shortly to be demolished despite the good condition of the terraces. Quarry Mount Primary School is seen in the backgrounbd on Cross Quarry Street.

View of Churchfield Place which ran parallel with Ashworth Street. In the distance Quarry Mount School, with distinctive clock tower, is visible. Also seen the very tall refuse destructor chimney on the skyline which is located on Meanwood Road. Also in the picture is Quarry Street up past the school to where it meets Hartley Grove. The photograph was possibly taken on a Monday, traditionally washing day, judging by the many lines of washing pegged across the street to dry.

It would seem to be school finishing time as children appear to be walking home from school, some with parents, and cars are parked outside. The clock is showing half past three. Quarry Mount Primary School dates back to Victorian times when it opened as a Council School.

View from the Holborn area of Woodhouse, looking towards Woodhouse Ridge. The flats in the foreground are in Holborn Terrace and the white properties on the left are in Holborn Street. Through the gap between the buildings terraced properties also in Holborn Street are visible. In the background there are streets of old red brick terraced housing located off Woodhouse Street. The Victorian school with the clocktower is Quarry Mount County Primary School in Cross Quarry Street, which originated as a Council School. Nowadays the school is addressed as Pennington Street.
