Black & White imageUndated. View shows a pillar of grouting, believed to be the only remaining part of the 14th century John O'Gaunts Chapel, the castle chapel of Rothwell Royal Hunting Lodge. It is now a scheduled Ancient Monument, and is located to the west of Wood Lane, opposite Holy Trinity Church. In this view, the winding gear and buildings of Rose Pit (Rothwell Haigh Colliery) can be seen in the background.
