The properties stand at the crossroads with Westerton Road, Hollerton Lane, Haigh Moor Road and Constable Road. Hollerton Lane is visible on the right. This one storey brick building formerly (pre 1967) housed the old West Ardsley Co-op. The two storey house was built by the Strickland family who later ran a business here. They installed a washerette in the part of the building now occupied by Headlines.

The businesses are numbered as 178 and 178a Westerton Road respectively. Prior to 1967 the building was occupied by the old West Ardsley Co-op. The manager of the co-op was, at one time, Harry Lockwood. After closure of the co-op the premises were bought by the Strickland family who built the house shown to the left of the mini mart. The right-hand side of the building, which is now Headlines, was converted to a washerette by the Stricklands.
