Black & White image10th November 1927. View of Back Virginia Street, a very old street of brick houses in the process of being demolished. The windows are multi-paned and the lower ones are fitted with shutters. There are several archways, in the row of back-to-back terraced houses, leading through to Nelson Street. This street was situated between Virginia Street and Nelson Street.

Back Virginia Street is situated between Virginia Street and Nelson Street. These partially demolished brick houses are on two storeys with old, multi-paned windows. There were several arched entrances to passageways accessing Nelson Street but only two remain in this image. The building seen at the end is in front of the Black Swan public house which is located at number 90 Vicar Lane.

This is a street of red brick, back-to-back houses with several arched passageways accessing Nelson Street. The windows are multi-paned with shutters fitted to the ones at street level. A hand barrow is seen in the road. The photograph was taken when much of the area was in the process of being demolished.
