Beyond, are two rows of terraced houses intersected by Poplar Avenue. On the right-hand side of Barley Hill Road a recreation ground was created, with a bowling green, tennis court, putting green and childrens' playground. In the background the road bends round to the right to join Wakefield Road. Barley Hill Road used to be known as Occupation Lane but is shown on a map dated 1908 with the name of Barley Hill Road.
